Dutch podcast appearance: “The messiah in pixels”

A few weeks ago I was asked to join the Loremaal Gesproken podcast. (The name is an exceptionally wonky portmanteau of “lore” and Dutch expression “normaal gesproken”, which would take an entire blogpost to explain.) The topic discussed was the messiah in pixels, or the ways Christianity and especially messianic heroes have a tendency to pop up in video games and films.

It turned into a fun, hour-long conversation with the host and another guest, Dr. Frank Bosman from Tilburg University, who as a theologist was able to shine an educated light on things. Especially happy I managed to do a shoutout to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which does interesting things with the concept of false messiahs and has the most wonderfully insane scripture.
